citroen numero 9 picture
Citroen has announced the new Numero 9 concept - a new vehicle that will join the current DSline-up, including the DS3DS4, and DS5. The Numero 9 previews the styling cues of the next three models in the line: a C-segment premium sedan, an SUV,nd a D-segment executive saloon.
The new Numero 9 is a plug-in full-hybrid vehicle that combines a 225 HP 1.6 liter petrol engine powering the front wheels with a lithium-ion powered electric motor that is positioned on the rear axle and adds another 70 HP. In pure electric mode, the new Numero 9 has a autonomy of 31 miles. It can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 152 mph.
Citroen will be unveiling their new Numero 9 concept at the end of April at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.

2012 Infiniti LE

infiniti le picture
Infiniti unveiled the new LE Concept at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The concept was built as a luxury version of the already very successful Nissan Leaf and previews a production version that is expected to reach Infiniti showrooms in near-similar form within the next two years as Infiniti’s first zero emission luxury sedan.
The concept was designed as a luxury car rather than an electric vehicle. It features the usual Infiniti design cues, such as its double-arch grille and crescent-cut rear-pillar, and is about the same size as the Infiniti G Sedan. This was done to illustrate that just because it’s an electric car, doesn’t mean that it has to be small.
"In a future that holds an increasing consumption of natural resources, we will advance our sustainable mobility leadership and expand our EV market penetration with new electric vehicles such as the Infiniti LE Concept," said Nissan President and CEO Carlos Ghosn. "Infiniti is well positioned to deliver the objectives for a sustainable future, relying on our capable, hard-working and motivated team members around the world. We are a challenger."

2013 Ford Evos

The Ford Evos concept

The Ford Evos concept

Looking to make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September, the new Ford Evos concept car has some very ambitious design elements that are sure to cause a huge splash. The Evos concept is looking to incorporate a number of new technologies and while the car will never be seen on the road, it represents what is possible and what Ford hope to achieve with their vehicles in the future.

One of the main features that the Evos is looking to showcase is the customization of the car to the driver. And while Ford are not looking to create a “smart phone” they are looking to create a driver experience that has never been seen before, by connecting the car to the driver.

Ford are calling this connectivity; the driver’s ‘personal cloud’. The Evos can then take information from the cloud and create the same experience that the user has at home or at the office. Based on the information gathered, the car can then adapt certain elements to suit the specific driver and what they are looking for. The car can adjust the handling, the steering and the engine controls to suit the specific driver.

The concept is also able to gather additional points of information in the cloud which then allows the car to monitor the driver’s work schedule, the traffic and the weather conditions. It can then make your life more comfortable, by potentially playing the same song or news broadcast that the driver was listening to at home, or automatically adjust the temperature before the driver even gets into the car based on a calendar date. Additionally the car could communicate with the driver’s house and automatically close the garage door, or turn off the garage lights as the car pulls away.

It will be very interesting to see how many of these new features actually come to pass and how long they take to be developed into the main stream. Still it is great to see Ford pushing the envelope of what is possible in a car and looking to develop new original technologies.

Bugatti Altess Concept by Amadou Ndiaye Pulls Double Duty

bugatti altess concept by amadou ndiaye pulls double duty picture

These days, everything needs to have more than one purpose. Our cell phones double as date books and mini-computers for access to our emails, our televisions sets now have the ability to become a fully-stocked video rental shop, and even our refrigerators can come with digital calendars and photo albums. With all of our technology expanding their range of use, it seemed only natural for industrial designer, Amadou Ndiaye, from Montreal, Canada to come up with a Bugatti concept that served its own dual purpose as well.
The Bugatti Altess Concept is more than just a car; it’s actually two cars in one. The first variation of the vehicle is a fully enclosed grand tourer that, with a few adjustments, can be transformed into a hardcore gentleman’s racer where the driver and passenger sit in the open air with only a small windscreen for protection. This transformation is achieved by removing the hood, roof, windows, and rear quarter panels and replacing them with a lightweight single-piece panel that allows to the sun to stream right in. A discreet spine bisects the car to keep it intact during the removal and addition of parts. The design for the concept was inspired by the 1930s Bugatti Atlantic, which was considered the most beautiful pre-war vehicle.
The process for transformation is kind of cool, as is having both a coupe and a roadster in one model, but as for seeing it in production form, that’s just not going to happen.

2011 Ford Cobra Snakehead by Andrus Ciprian

ford cobra snakehead by andrus ciprian picture

Some may say that Ford will have to step up its game if it’s going to compete with Chevrolet’s plans for a new Camaro model every six months. To those people we say, if the second generation GT supercar and the varying versions of the Mustang aren’t enough, then check out this proposed model from designer Andrus Ciprian. His all-new lightweight sports car - the Cobra Snakehead - could just be the high-top model needed to win over some votes from the Camaro clan.
It may not look like your typical Ford supercar, but Ciprian’s two-seater concept does carry over some of Ford’s latest design language, albeit taken a bit to the extreme. This new design language is already present in the latest Fiesta andFocus models, so you’ll see a resemblance to their design on the front end of the Cobra Snakehead. Its extreme muscular stance with those huge, bubble wheel arches and kamm tail design inspired by the classic lines of the original GT40s would put even the beefy Mustang to shame. The design is even more aggressive than the proposed GT supercar.
For power, Ciprian envisions a front mounted V8 for the Ford Cobra Snakehead, so naturally we would of the aluminum 5.4 Liter supercharged V8 found in the GT500. This engine produces 550 HP and 510 lb-ft of torque, but is rather close to the hybrid powertrain speculated for the future Ford GT.
Bottomline: We think the Ford Cobra Snakehead looks amazing, but chances of it becoming a new model for Ford are slim to none. However, we would like to see some of its aggressive design carried over to the new Ford GT. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Aston Martin and Maybach will bring a concept car to Frankfurt

aston martin and maybach will bring a concept car to frankfurt picture

Rumors about a partnership between Aston Martin and Maybach first appeared at the end of last year when we reported that the two companies would team up for a luxury sedan. Now, AutoCar reports that the two companies are set to bring a concept car developed together to the Frankfurt show in September 2011.
While neither Aston Martin nor Maybach would comment on this rumor, it is believed that the concept to be displayed in Frankfurt will be a luxury car with a high-quality interior finished to the hand-crafted standards of a British luxury saloon.
This news shouldn’t really surprise anyone considering Mercedes needs to decide by the end of June which partner they will choose to develop replacements for the 57 and 62 saloons. This type of partnership is mutually beneficial because Aston Martin can bring its interior design skills to the table, particularly the use of traditional materials in conjunction with hi-tech features, and Mercedes can share its new alloy body technology and engines for third-generation Vantage and DB9 models.
