2013 Bugatti SuperVeyron

1600 HP Bugatti SuperVeyron in the works

Anyone who thought the Bugatti speed legacy was going to quit at 1200 HP may be in for a big surprise once the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show gets underway. According to Automobilemag, the French manufacturer is working on a 1600 HP version of the Veryron and have dubbed it the "SuperVeyron."
The new Bugatti SuperVeyron is supposed to incorporate extensive use of carbon fiber, shaving off about 550 lbs from the Veyron Super Sport’s total weight of 4052 lbs. Under the hood, Bugatti will place an 8.0-liter (or 9.6-liter) engine that will deliver an amazing 1600 HP, and a power-to-weight ratio of one kg (2.2 pounds) per hp thanks to the amazing weight loss. With these additions, the new SuperVeyron will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 1.8 seconds, while top speed will be raised from the current 259 HP up to an impressive 288 mph.
Next to the extra power, the new supercar will also get new designs for the front and rear with even more sophisticated active aerodynamics.
If these reports are true, then all of this will come in at a not-so-bargain price of over $2.5 million.

Bugatti Altess Concept by Amadou Ndiaye Pulls Double Duty

bugatti altess concept by amadou ndiaye pulls double duty picture

These days, everything needs to have more than one purpose. Our cell phones double as date books and mini-computers for access to our emails, our televisions sets now have the ability to become a fully-stocked video rental shop, and even our refrigerators can come with digital calendars and photo albums. With all of our technology expanding their range of use, it seemed only natural for industrial designer, Amadou Ndiaye, from Montreal, Canada to come up with a Bugatti concept that served its own dual purpose as well.
The Bugatti Altess Concept is more than just a car; it’s actually two cars in one. The first variation of the vehicle is a fully enclosed grand tourer that, with a few adjustments, can be transformed into a hardcore gentleman’s racer where the driver and passenger sit in the open air with only a small windscreen for protection. This transformation is achieved by removing the hood, roof, windows, and rear quarter panels and replacing them with a lightweight single-piece panel that allows to the sun to stream right in. A discreet spine bisects the car to keep it intact during the removal and addition of parts. The design for the concept was inspired by the 1930s Bugatti Atlantic, which was considered the most beautiful pre-war vehicle.
The process for transformation is kind of cool, as is having both a coupe and a roadster in one model, but as for seeing it in production form, that’s just not going to happen.

Bugatti Galibier will go into production as the Royale

bugatti galibier will go into production as the royale picture

A leaked document about Bugatti’s future product planning revealed some very interesting facts about the company’s plans for the year. We already know that the final unit of the Veyron will be produced in December, but what we didn’t know was that the Galibier will be put into production as the Royale. That is, unless Bugatti is looking to unveil a entirely new supercar which we doubt. Look for the new Royale to be debuted in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Bugatti’s first Royale was launched back in 1927 and was the automotive answer to ultimate luxury. The large luxury car was originally powered by a 12.7-liter straight-eight, but the modern reincarnation will carry the same W16 engine found in the Veyron, linked to an electric motor, and reduced to about 850 HP. This engine will be mated to a dual-clutch gearbox.
Only six units were built of the original Royale during 1927-1933, even though 25 were planned. For the next installment of the luxury vehicle, Bugatti plans on selling 3,000 units in less than six years, each priced at about 1 million Euros ($1.4 million at the current rates).

Bugatti Veyron

The Veyron Maintenance: Keeping The Bugatti Supercar In Top Shape Will Burn Your Pockets

the veyron maintenance keeping the bugatti supercar in top shape will burn your pockets picture
You know that time of the month when the bills arrive and you immediately have this sinking feeling in your stomach?
While we continuously fret about the rising costs of gas and electric bills, imagine the cringe coming out of the faces of people who own a Bugatti Veyron. You see, there are bills to pay and then there are Veyron maintenance bills to pay.
Some of you might say that people who own a Veyron need not worry about the maintenance it costs to keep one in tip-top shape considering they had the money to buy one in the first place. Although that may be true, it doesn’t make the whole scenario any cheaper. For starters - and we advise everybody to grab their seats first - a routine service for the Veyron runs up to around £13,000, which is around $21,000 based on current exchange rates. Yeah, for every time you bring the Veyron to the shop - we’re guessing around four to six times a year - you can actually buy a Mercedes E63 AMG...every year.
If you thought that was it, buckle down, people.
Continued after the jump.
The Veyron is considered one of the fastest cars on the planet, but with that title comes a few wrinkles, one of which is the state of your tires after your weekly high-speed excursions in the countryside. In the event that you need to replace the specialized rubber on the Veyron, a set will cost you £25,000 ($40,500). Oh, and ’as per Bugatti’s recommendation’, you should change your tires after every 2,500 miles. It’s also common procedure for a car like the Veyron to continuously check for cracks on the wheels of the supercar, a practice that will set you back an extra £7,200 ($11,500).
Deep breaths, friends. Deep breaths.
Then there are the costs that are subjected to how often you use the car. Chances are, you’re going to be handing your credit card to gas station attendants more times than you’d want since the Veyron has a combined EPA fuel efficiency - we’re using the word ’efficiency’ very, very loosely here - of 10 miles per gallon.
All told, the annual maintenance charges to your Bugatti Veyron can run up easily to six digits. But if you’re the type that enjoys your beloved supercar a little too much, then conceivably, your bills could run up to $300,000 a year.
Wrap your heads around that number for a second...
$300,000.
Okay...now you can faint.

Thief has to pay taxes to the tune of $522,000 after stealing a Veyron

thief has to pay taxes to the tune of 522 000 after stealing a veyron picture

It took us a little while to be able to report on this simply because we were laughing so hard when we first saw it. Three thieves in Poland thought it would be a great idea to not only steal a Bugatti Veyron, but a one-off Grand Sport Sang Bleu - you know, the one created to celebrate Bugatti’s centenary in 2009. Oh, and it gets even better. These morons then went on to steal a BMW 7-Series and a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. Read on because it gets even better still.
After stealing the Veyron in Poland, the trio of hoodlums moved on to Oberrieden, Switzerland where they used the supercar to rob another house before they were pulled over by the police in Germany. That’s right, folks. They stole the car in Poland, robbed a house in Switzerland, and then got pulled over in Germany. Guess the old saying of, "three strikes and you’re out" rings true in this situation.
As a result of these extracurricular activities, the robbers will not only have to spend some time in the slammer, but they will also have to pay a tax bill of $522,000 because the stolen cars were registered in Switzerland. This is the point where everyone should just point and laugh at them.
Nice job, imbeciles. Maybe next time you can steal a greater number of exclusive vehicles and hit that $1 million mark!
