Tom Cruise jumps into an F1 Car

Tom Cruise -- producer and star of Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol -- which opens on December 21, took a break from post-production work to accept an invitation to test drive the Red Bull Racing Formula One car in Southern California on Monday, August 15. David Coulthard, a 13-time Grand Prix winner and former Red Bull Racing driver, served as Cruise's instructor for the day with support from a 12-person crew, who flew in from the team's base in the UK.

Report: Chevy developing two-door Cruze

Thus far, the Cruze has been a big success for Chevrolet. Although you could chalk up part of its meteoric rise to a lack of supply from Japan, the Cruze was the best-selling compact in America last month. To build on that success, General Motors is reportedly developing a two-door coupe Cruze for future production.

Although officials have yet to confirm the Cruze coupe, reports indicate that development is already well under way, with production earmarked for the Orion, Michigan, plant where the Sonic is being built. Why not the Lordstown, Ohio plant where the Cruze sedan is built? That facility is already running at full capacity – even into overtime – just to meet demand.

It would be interesting to see the Cruze spawn a coupe variant, particularly since two-door versions of theCobalt and the Cavalier that preceded it, lamentable though they were, proved popular among teenagers as first cars. We particularly miss the Cobalt SS, which was available in both coupe and sedan bodystyles before the model was discontinued, as it offered one of the best performance to price ratios on the market.

Video: Lexus "Engineering Amazing" Ad Campaign

The whole point behind creating extravagant, informative, and creative commercials is to get people to buy, use, or sell your product. Of course, then there’s the bragging aspect where people air out all of their achievements in the hopes of allowing customers to realize just how fantastic their company is. Lexus has chosen the latter route with the creation of their "Engineering Amazing" consisting of five different commercials. These commercials detail the company’s accomplishments of the past few years in terms of technology, safety, and performance, and show how they have produced technology that will be relevant not just today, but 10, 20, or even 30, years from now.
When discussing the new campaign, Dave Nordstrom, Vice President of Marketing for Lexus said: "This isn’t just a campaign, it’s a statement that, for Lexus, the best is yet to come. It’s not about simply making incremental strides and improvements, but about taking giant leaps in innovation. The first evidence of this came with the recent unveiling of our LF-Gh hybrid concept car."
Check out the other four commercials after the jump.
