Bugatti Altess Concept by Amadou Ndiaye Pulls Double Duty

bugatti altess concept by amadou ndiaye pulls double duty picture

These days, everything needs to have more than one purpose. Our cell phones double as date books and mini-computers for access to our emails, our televisions sets now have the ability to become a fully-stocked video rental shop, and even our refrigerators can come with digital calendars and photo albums. With all of our technology expanding their range of use, it seemed only natural for industrial designer, Amadou Ndiaye, from Montreal, Canada to come up with a Bugatti concept that served its own dual purpose as well.
The Bugatti Altess Concept is more than just a car; it’s actually two cars in one. The first variation of the vehicle is a fully enclosed grand tourer that, with a few adjustments, can be transformed into a hardcore gentleman’s racer where the driver and passenger sit in the open air with only a small windscreen for protection. This transformation is achieved by removing the hood, roof, windows, and rear quarter panels and replacing them with a lightweight single-piece panel that allows to the sun to stream right in. A discreet spine bisects the car to keep it intact during the removal and addition of parts. The design for the concept was inspired by the 1930s Bugatti Atlantic, which was considered the most beautiful pre-war vehicle.
The process for transformation is kind of cool, as is having both a coupe and a roadster in one model, but as for seeing it in production form, that’s just not going to happen.

The Mission Impossible 4: Ghost Protocol will air on December 16, 2011, but while many people think Tom Cruise will be the star of the show, we would beg to differ. If we do find ourselves checking out the fourth movie in the Mission Impossible franchise, we’ll be doing so just to get a glimpse of theBMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept car that will inspire the productionBMW i8 version.
"We are thrilled to be involved again in another Hollywood Blockbuster," said Ian Robertson, BMW AG Board Member for Sales and Marketing. "The BMW Group leads the way in developing future mobility with a focus on sustainability. One great example is the BMW Vision EfficientDynamicsconcept car which will be presented in the film. With its futuristic design and large glass surfaces, the car offers a fascinating perspective on the future of sheer driving pleasure – in combination with maximum efficiency. Also with BMW ConnectedDrive technology, it is the perfect car for Ethan Hunt to outsmart his pursuers through narrow streets and busy city traffic."
Hit the jump to watch the Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol trailer, but more importantly, pay close attention to the one minute mark to catch a glimpse of the BMW i8.

batman 8217 s new ride will be a lamborghini aventador picture

In the past few years, supercars have been all the rage in blockbuster movies, having appeared in a growing number of them that involve superheroes. Iron Man began that trend when Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., was seen riding the Audi R8 a few years back. Since then, a lot of high-budget summer movies have taken to exotics to serve as the protagonist’s main ride, including the Audi R8 Spyder in Iron Man 2, the Ferrari 458 Italia in the about-to-be-released Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in The Dark Knight.
We bring this up because, apparently, the new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises, will feature none other than the Lamborghini Aventador as Bruce Wayne’s new set of wheels.
A couple of photos were even snapped by a forum member of Luxury4play showing the Lamborghini supercar in full movie dress up, including plates that say "Gotham" to go with a slightly different, yet subtle, silver finish.
It’s unlikely that this Aventador is going to be the new Batmobile for the movie because it doesn’t have all the trinkets and gizmos that are mandatory for Batman’s crime-fighting ride. Chalk the Aventador up as the latest in Bruce Wayne’s growing auto garage. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t suffer the same fate as that of the Murcielago LP640 - it crashed heavily in one scene - in the Dark Knight.

The new Renault Koleos

The new Renault Koleos

The new Renault Koleos

The updated Renault Koleos comes with a few minor changes and tweaks here and there but is otherwise very similar to the model it is based on. The biggest change comes with a focus on reducing CO2 emission in the vehicle and there has been a big improvement compared to the current model.

The exterior of the new Koleos has seen its front end re-styled; the air-intakes on the current model have been replaced by an elegant chrome grille and a set of new slimmer headlights add to the styling. Rounding off the list of exterior changes sees the door mirrors now equipped with LED indicators.

Inside the cabin there is a selection of new upholsteries and trims available, to add some extra elegance and personalization. There has been some refinement to the dashboard of the car, as well as the instrument lighting to be more modern. Other than that though, there isn’t much that has changed.

As mentioned, the biggest change comes in the CO2 reduction of the new Koleos. The Koleos will be available in a 150hp and 175hp diesel model, as well as a 170hp petrol version, with all 3 have impressive CO2 reductions.Renault put in a lot of work on the engine and gearbox of the new Koleos to achieve the CO2 reduction and the work seems to have paid off as the emissions from the 4x2 dCi 150 engine clock in at just 148g/km. The bigger dCi 175 clocks in at 166g/km for its emission rating.

The new Renault Koleos will be available later this year in Europe, look for more information on a local release as it becomes available.

The unique Lexus LS 600h L Landaulet

The unique Lexus LS 600h L Landaulet

The unique Lexus LS 600h L Landaulet

It takes quite a special occasion for an company like Lexus to design and build a one of a kind custom car but the wedding of the Prince of Monaco to our very own Charlene Wittstock is just such an occasion. The wedding will take place on Saturday the 2nd of July and Lexus will be supplying a LS 600h L Landaulet, which will be used to tour the principality after the wedding ceremony.

This L Landaulet is based on the LS 460 and LS 600h L and is described by Lexus as being: “the pinnacle of technology in the luxury segment”. The L Landaulet was designed by Belgian coachbuilders Carat Duchatelet along with a team of engineers from Lexus and took over 2000 hours to complete. In order to shape and mold the necessary custom parts, the car was completely dismantled and then re-assembled. These custom parts needed to be “cooked” onto the bare chassis of the car in a specially prepared oven.

The one-piece transparent polycarbonate roof was a particular challenge as it has no reinforcements or pillars. The roof had to be specially built in France and is similar in composition to windshields used in helicopters as well as jet fighter canopies. All of this design and ingenuity has resulted in a car that maintains the same standards as the car it has been based on, while at the same time providing a great view for the new couple as well as the many onlookers.

Lamborghini on the fence between building the Estoque or the LM00X SUV

lamborghini on the fence between building the estoque or the lm00x suv picture

A few days ago, a report came out that Lamborghini is teaming up with Porscheto build its very own SUV that will be based on the latter’s latest GT architecture. While this news poses a shift in philosophy for the Raging Bull and could potentially undermine its tradition, the latest word - at least according to Car and Driver - is that Lamborghini is on the fence on which model will join the Gallardo and the Aventador in the lineup.
Apart from this long-rumored SUV - it’s been codenamed as the ’LM00X’ - the other choice is the production of the Estoque. The Italian automaker is considering both vehicles, but has made it known that only one is going to be green-lighted for production.
While no decisions have been made yet, the company is looking at October as the time to decide. As it stands the SUV has a slight edge over the Estoque because the car will be on a class of its own as far as high-end SUVs are concerned whereas the Estoque will have its hands full going up against competitors like the Porsche Panamera Turbo S, the Aston Martin Rapide, and the recently launched Ferrari FF.
The final decision is still a few months away, but it’s never too early to put your two cents in. For us, we prefer seeing the Estoque finally come alive after years of drooling over it. Besides, just like Ferrari, the words ’Lamborghini’ and ’SUV’ don’t belong in the same sentence.
Let us know which model you prefer in the comments section below.
